Corporate Vision Issue 3 2018

CORPORATE VISION / Issue 3 2018 39 , Genesis Employment Services is now one of the UK’s leading independent recruitment agencies. We spoke toMike Finnerty, Operations Manager, in a bid to explore the secrets behind the company’s impressive success. A New Beginning Established in 2006, Genesis is comprised of an experienced team of consultants and resourcers, who make it their job to understand client requirements and then, tapping into a thousand-strong pool of candidates, match the right person to the role. Located in Coventry, the company provides a tailored approach to sourcing temporary and permanent staff that have an immediate positive impact in the workplace. Cementing its position as a leader in the market, Genesis is often the first point of contact for companies involved in engineering and manufacturing, industrial and warehousing, commercial and the often complex Gangmaster sector. Working in recruitment, it is important that a strong client relationship is built, and this starts with how a company undertakes a new project and what approach they use when working with a new client. Mike outlines what steps the agency takes in order to ensure the client receives the best possible outcome. “With new clients, it all depends on the scenario as we always tailor our approach to suit the specific requirements of the client. Typically, this would involve an on-site meeting so that we get to understand the business, the roles they are looking to fill and the environment in which our candidates will be operating in. “Furthermore, we then try to understand the full process in terms of timeframe, level of selection, skills/attributes required and the duration of contract. Once we have this information in place, we assign the right individuals to ensure the best possible service to our clients, who can range from SMEs to large multi-nationals.” Building on the vision of founder Gaynor Frost, the team at Genesis work exceptionally hard to deliver an exceptional service to clients, whilst at the same time producing an impressive turnover of over £6m last year. Mike explains what Gaynor and her husband bring to the team, and how following their vision, ethos and ethics contributes greatly to the success of Genesis. “Essentially, the business is run by husband and wife team Gaynor and Richard Frost and this family-run ethic is what helps the company stand out from competitors as it equates to a more personal level of service. Also, this family ethos is instilled into all of our staff and experts who continue to join us. “From an operational point of view, by having all of the different departments of a recruitment agency under one roof, it provides excellent operational efficiencies and quicker response times.” Regarding the internal culture within Genesis, Mike is keen to emphasise that the family- feel within the agency and the personal service that the team are trained to offer, are key aspects of how the firm is able to exceed client expectations. “At Genesis, we offer a family- run, personal service. We have said it before, but this culture is the same internally as it is externally. 2018 will see us create personal development plans for every member of staff, so we can identify new skills they may need and support them with the right training.” Regarding the future of Genesis, the team have plenty of ambition, and it is this drive which will see the company increase its turnover, as well as expand into other specialty areas in which business can be increased. Mike predicts what 2018 will hold for the agency and it is very exciting. “In a nutshell, our main aim is growth. We have ambitious plans to increase turnover to £7m over the next twelve months, and this involves tapping into demand from engineering, manufacturing, industrial and warehousing firms. “2018 will also be a big year for our recently created Commercial division and a lot of investment is being directed into increasing the number of permanent staff we are placing.” 1803CV24 In his concluding comments, Mike concludes what developments he foresees throughout the industry and what impact these advances will have on the market. Across all industries, GDPR is going to have an effect on companies, and recruitment is no different, as Mike alludes to. “Moving forward, there is a big review around Agency Worker contracts and the sector will need to be mindful of how any changes impact the way we attract and supply temporary staff. “GDPR, which is due to come into force on the 25th May, could also have a profound effect on the data we hold on candidates and how we use it.” Contact: Mike Finnerty Address: 2nd Floor, 8 Hay Lane, Coventry, CV1 5RF, UK Phone: 02476 553553 Website: www.genesis-employment.co.uk Twitter: @genesisjobs Richard and Gaynor Frost with Mike Finnerty
