He does this through ‘traditional consultancy’, mentoring, training, speaking, research, and co-production of new approaches and resources. As part of his vision, Adrian wants to try and leave the world in a better state than he found it, and he outlines what steps he will take to achieve this, including his approach and techniques when working with clients on a new project. “My business model considers environmental, economic, and social impacts, and I openly report on how well I am doing with regards to these each year. “At the outset of any new piece of work, there is an open discussion about motivations and needs – this means approaches can be most aligned to their culture and any sensitivities. Crucially, this approach is maintained throughout subsequent delivery: at the end of each milestone, we review what has been achieved, what is needed next, and what may have changed since we started to ensure planned activities remain relevant.” In order to attract the best clients and the best business, Adrian must differentiate himself from other consultants. He is able to distinguish himself from his competitors thanks to his encyclopaedic knowledge, and ability to convert abstract concepts into applied reality, something he is keen to explain to us. “Many of my clients and peers refer to me as a ‘human google’, and as a ‘babel fish’: being able to translate any concept or management tool/practice into terms that means they not only understand them, but subsequently are excited about how to use them.” Regarding what the future holds for Adrian, he is looking to build his success and continue to capitalise on his achievements. Despite outside influences, Adrian is continuing to evolve his work to a standard which will see his clients return to build on work they’ve undertaken together “Moving forward, recent changes in family circumstances means I am revisiting my business model, but will continue to ‘evolve’ the framework I have created for freelancers and consultants 1803CV36 to report on their added value/ impact.” Address: 6 White Hart Fold, Todmorden, OL14 7BD, UK Phone: 07786492313 Website: www.adrianashton.co.uk
