Australian Enterprise Awards 2025

Corporate Vision On a mission to work closely with the parents and carers of the participants in its sessions to ensure these young people receive all the support necessary to fulfil their hopes and live their dreams, Grow 2 Be is successfully transforming attitudes around disability and affording those who attend the opportunity to develop through its varied fortnightly program. The sessions delivered by Grow 2 Be are done so in conjunction with a number of like-minded community organisations, with content ranging from basic learning to vocational skills. Some of the highlights of Grow 2 Be’s teaching portfolio include short courses on CPR, first aid, and even barista training, as well as managing money and building resilience. In addition to this, the organisation is now proud to offer the unique opportunity for young people to gain their Certificate II in Hospitality, a service that it delivers as of last month. Achieving this qualification is much more than just classroom learning, with participants able to gain hands-on experience thanks to the strong links the organisation has within the community. Elaborating on this further, Heidi Faber, the director of the organisation, explains to us: “As participants begin to develop their hospitality skills, they will have the opportunity to work at the local Men’s Shed Café, Officer Bakehouse, Johnny Boys Pizza and the Ronald McDonald Charity House, which provides valuable work experience and could lead to employment in the industry.” These sessions are also infused with capacity building across such pivotal areas as social skills, communication, and self-advocacy, all of which help develop character. Having previously been named as the Most Dedicated Disability Support Organisation 2024 – Victoria, Grow 2 Be Pty Ltd has once again proven itself to be the leading provider of support for young people with disabilities in Victoria. Serving to empower individuals and support them as they work towards gaining more independence, Grow 2 Be delivers personalised programmes on both a group and a oneto-one level, as well as working towards achieving the goals set out by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Most Dedicated Disability Support Organisation 2025 – Victoria “Participants will also have the opportunity to develop their green thumbs by working at the Men’s Shed vegetable garden. By planting, nurturing, and harvesting their own produce, they’ll learn essential gardening skills, develop a sense of responsibility, and appreciate the value of sustainable living.” The partnership Grow 2 Be has developed with the Koo Wee Rup Men’s Shed goes beyond hospitality and food however, as the facility also provides metalwork training to the participants. Not only is this a practical skill that will stay with these young people for the rest of their lives, it also offers them an opportunity to make items that they can sell to the public for a profit. As well as generating income, this will also help participants to foster entrepreneurial skills, learn the value of hard work, and take pride in their creations. As the examples demonstrate, Grow 2 Be is dedicated to creating experiences defined by both their meaningfulness and practicality, equipping those who complete them with the skills and the confidence it takes to succeed in whatever it is they choose to do later on in life. These paid employment and work experience opportunities would not be possible were it not for the supportive relationships that this disability support service has with the likes of Officer Bakehouse, Ronald McDonald Charity House, Johnny Boys Pizza, and the Koo Wee Rup Men’s Shed, and this award is as much for its partners as it is for Grow 2 Be itself. Reflecting on the back-to-back wins her organisation has achieved, Heidi Faber tells us: “As we celebrate these achievements, we remain more dedicated than ever before to creating opportunities for our participants to excel. We recognise that every step taken is a victory, and that each participant’s journey is unique. Through our continued support and tailored programmes, we aim to empower them to reach their ultimate goals, whether these involve gaining employment, building confidence, or overcoming personal obstacles.” Meticulously adhering to the NDIS Code of Conduct whilst simultaneously changing the lives of young people with disabilities and their families, the disability support service delivered by Grow 2 Be Pty Ltd is comprehensive, one of a kind, and worthy of acclaim.
