Dec21234 Best Authentic Myanmar Foods Manufacturer – North America Established in 2019 as a solution to one woman’s struggle to locate her home country’s delicacies, A&A Greenilla Foods brings Myanmar products to the wider Americanmarket. We speak to Founder, Aye Myae, to hear more. The land of Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a southeast Asian nation of more than 100 ethnic groups, bordering India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand. Yangon (formerly Rangoon), the country’s largest city, is home to bustling markets, numerous parks and lakes, and the towering, gilded Shwedagon Pagoda, which contains Buddhist relics and dates to the 6th century. “Finding Myanmar cultural delicacies was difficult since we moved to Canada,” explains Aye Myae, the Founder of A&A Greenilla Food Ltd. “We developed the Moe brand Myanmar Food processing company with the main purpose to create ‘Made in Canada’ authentic Myanmar food products readily available on retail and online shelves in North America and rest of the world.” Currently, the firm has nine products in the market, including Mohhingar, Mohhingar Spice Mix, Chicken Coconut Noodles, Crispy Chickpea Tempura, Sprouted Yellow Peas, Instant Chickpea Tofu Mix, Crispy Peas and Beans, Mandalay Mont-Ti and Mandalay Mee-Shay. With a vision to bring Myanmar cultural delicacies to the world, the company’s core values include authenticity, quality, simplicity, and sustainability, and these purpose driven values give Aye and the team strength to focus on long term goals that contribute to the firm’s overall success. Aye says, “Our business model is very unique and is the first in North America. There are currently only imports and local restaurants serving mainly to Myanmar immigrants, but our aim is to bring Myanmar foods to all customers in North America and around the world.” What makes the firm unique, other than its product offering, is that all its products comply with high standards of North America’s food safety regulatory environment. The product lines can also be easily scaled up and integrated into grocery supply chains in North America and around the world. There were lots of challenges for the start-up due to Covid-19 pandemic, in terms of marketing, production, sales, and financing. However, Aye feels that there has been a big shift in priorities and that there is now a very real opportunity that retailers and big supply chain buyers are more willing to work with small, local businesses in order to help support the local economy. Whilst the firm is currently outsourcing most of the services it needs, the small team is organized with likeminded and excellent professionals and Aye refers to it as a fruitful experience to be working alongside brilliant individuals. “During the past two years periods, we possess a very strong team that is expanding everyday nationally and internationally. We are thrilled to transform upcoming challenges to remarkable successes. Regarding recruitment opportunities, creative thinking, cooperation, learning, and problem solving skills would be some main qualities we look for in new talents,” Aye tells us. With awards coming in thick and fast – for Aye was named on of the top 25 women entrepreneurs in iLaunchHerProduct, the firm’s most recent success was being recognised in the Corporate Vision Canadian Business Awards 2022 and bestowed with the prestigious title of Best Authentic Myanmar Foods Manufacturer in North America. Regarding the future, everything is looking bright for Aye and the company and she is planning to set up listings and connections with national and multi-national buyers, as well as planning to set up her own production facility. “We are also always looking forward to incorporating best practices of sustainability and circularity into our business model.” Best of luck to Aye and the team.
