Education and Training Awards 2021

Education and Training Awards 2021 27 May21070 gives two individuals who have been affected adversely by Covid-19 a completely free education and the school hopes that, in the future, it is able to offer more complete scholarships and start a new movement where scholarships for private schools in Spain become the norm. As for the immediate future, Maxwell School is expanding to A Levels in September 2021 and in order to prepare for this, its GCSE pupils will be planning and developing lectures and workshops for primary pupils on Nutrition, Active lifestyle and Sports Development and Performance. Grace hopes that once Covid-19 restrictions are eased the school will also be able to expand its Mindfulness and Wellbeing initiative. “Ideally, our pupils will feel so confident in their skills that they will be able to teach and support younger pupils in their Mindful and Mental Wellness journey.” Contact: Grace Conroy Company: Maxwell School Web Address: www.maxwellschool.es Private School of the Year – Madrid & Excellence Award for Wellbeing & Mindfulness Instruction Services - Spain Maxwell School offers children a unique, personalised learning experience that prepares them for the future. Using the best educational practices to stimulate their love of learning, allowing them to achieve academic excellence through a creative and collaborative environment, Maxwell School operates a hands-on collaborative approach. This means that pupils explore content and the world around them to develop their understanding of key concepts in line with the IMP and IMYC curriculum. Priding itself on its policy of inclusivity, Maxwell School firmly upholds the belief that every pupil can achieve and succeed. Maxwell School embraces technology and new pedagogies, with teachers being creative and bold in their approach. “We adopt a Growth Mindset in everything we do, mistakes are essential to learning,” explains Grace Conroy, Mindfulness and Wellbeing Coach. “Therefore, our school harbours curiosity and a love of learning; fear of failure does not exist here.” Maxwell is the only school to offer Mindfulness and Wellbeing as a timetabled lesson. Pupils embrace mindfulness and explore all of its key concepts and values. The school’s ethos is that a more mindful school is a happier, more successful school. “Our lessons are taught with creativity and flare. Pupils engage in projects which occur both inside and outside of school. For example, pupils explore the concept of enterprise by visiting local businesses and interviewing their owners; sometimes this is coupled with sampling the goods!” Parents are also an active and integral part of school life, whether it is to give pupils a talk about their culture and traditions, give a personal and deeper understanding of their religion, or even to discuss how they developed their business. It’s fair to say that the Covid-19 pandemic had a significant impact on education but thankfully, at Maxwell it is like being part of one big family and the Maxwell community pulled together to support each other whilst continuing to offer excellent education. “Wellbeing, as always, was at the forefront of our mission,” states Grace. “During this difficult time we offered wellbeing activities such as Virtual School trips, Virtual Sports Days, Parent Packs including stress relieving and support activities, and wellbeing days (Red for solidarity, funky hair days etc). Maxwell School has recently announced a new scholarship programme, the first of its kind for primary or secondary education in Spain. This scholarship, in honour of the founder’s father who passed recently, Maxwell School is uniquely poised to be able to help all students tackle the challenges of their learning while offering them emotional, social and cultural growth that will allow them to evolve into responsible and successful adults. We find out more abut this innovative approach to education.
