Passionate About Designing Established in 2012, Dazzle Ship are a design and motion agency working for clients such as Bloomberg, Wateraid and The Drone Racing League. Dazzle Ship’s overall mission is based around continuous improvement. Meaning everything needs to be better that the last time. How the team achieves this, is through feedback, experimentation and overcoming failure. To ensure that the firm are able to achieve the best possible outcome, the team at Dazzle Ship strongly believe that the key to success is all about collaboration. As such, the team like to form good relationships first to ensure that the client is suitable. Relationships need to work both ways, if the chemistry is there then it’s possible to create great work. Alex begins by informing us how relationships are one of the key differentiators between Dazzle Ship and their competitors. “It’s all about relationships. Which is why we like to take time to listen to people to find out what they really want. There is always a brief behind the brief that needs answering. It is about digging deep below the superficial level and finding goals that you can align on.” Helping to achieve the overall mission of the firm, is the talented, motivated and dedicated team that form the backbone of Dazzle Ship. When discussing the internal culture, Alex is keen to highlight how each member of the team are well equipped to provide the best possible service to their clients, as well as the approach to hiring new members. “It’s all about team dynamics, making sure that peoples strengths are played to and weaknesses are understood. This can be a hard process to admit for some, however as long as you nurture a collaborative supportive environment then it can lead to development for all involved. The key here is making sure that everyone has a ‘problem solving’ attitude, which sounds simple but there is a very clear divide between people that have this and people that don’t. “Everything should revolve around the work and the chance to collaborate and learn on exciting projects. We don’t believe that culture is a ping pong table or beers on a Friday. We believe It’s about overcoming challenging briefs and improving your skills and having fun whilst doing it!” Looking ahead to what the future holds, Alex signs off by revealing the techniques that Dazzle Ship will employ to stay ahead of emerging developments within the industry. In addition, Alex also touches on potential developments which already have a buzz. “On some level, you just need horse blinkers on. Emerging developments can feel like a distraction sometimes. We don’t pay attention to trends, we just focus on what we want to do and what we care about. As long as we stay true to our core belief of continuously improving, then I’m sure we can stay up to date with developments. “Moving forward, I think real time generative graphics is becoming more exciting, plus everyone hates rendering already!” Company: Dazzle Ship Name: Alex Donne Johnson Web Address: www.dazzleship.com
