On the back of this win, we profiled the organisation as we look for further insight into the expert services the teamprovides. Throughout the company, there is a team of established and professional consultant psychia- trists, all of whom are approved under The Mental Health Acts as having special experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. Boasting considerable experience in dealing with patients and working hard to understand their needs and requirements, the team strive to deliver the highest possible standard of assessment and care, as well as customer satisfaction. Although the team are able to offer services in a variety of areas, the organisation specialises in working with patients who are subject to the Mental Health legislation, with its expert staff providing psychiatric opinions for courts and tribunals. Furthermore, the team also provides medico legal reports, for capacity assessment, risk assessment (e.g. HCR20), suicide risk assessment, benefit appeals, immigration applications, parental right appeals, the DVLA, action for eviction, personal injury and employment tribunals amongst others. Additionally, Independent Psychia- try’s psychiatrists regularly assess fitness for trial, criminal respon- sibility, diminished responsibility, vulnerable witnesses and have expert witness experience. For individuals (GP referrals only), the team is able to offer psychi- atric assessment, diagnosis, and advice and treatment, including advice on prognosis. Lastly, staff at Independent Psychiatry are also able to carry out Aspergers and Autism (e.g. DISCO), diagnostic assessments and ADHD.
