Although the team are able to offer services in a variety of areas, the organisation specialises in working with patients who are subject to the Mental Health legislation, with its expert staff providing psychiatric opinions for courts and tribunals. Furthermore, the team also provides medico legal reports, for capacity assessment, risk assessment (e.g. HCR20), suicide risk assessment, benefit appeals, immigration applications, parental right appeals, the DVLA, action for eviction, personal injury and employment tribunals amongst others. Additionally, Independent Psychiatry’s psychiatrists regularly assess fitness for trial, criminal responsibility, diminished responsibility, vulnerable witnesses and have expert witness experience. For individuals (GP referrals only), the team is able to offer psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and advice and treatment, including advice on prognosis.
