Corporate Vision Issue 8
CORPORATE VISION / Issue 8 2018 43 Communicators has also been recognised as the winner of: • Best Use of Press and PR in the UK at Construction Marketing Awards for our work with City Legacy • Growth Business of the Year at the East Dunbartonshire Business Awards • Outstanding Small PR Consultancy by CIPR Scotland • Best Healthcare and Pharma Campaign at PR Moment Awards. When we are appointed, our first step is to agree clear measurable objectives for any activities with the client which guides all our activities and provides a very useful benchmark. Vision Our overall mission is to be the preferred communications consultancy in our chosen sectors. To achieve this, we work with our clients to achieve the desired results we have agreed together and focus on this relentlessly until the results are achieved. We usually achieve more and that probably explains the fact that 98% of our new business comes from referrals from existing clients. Not rocket science but very effective! Scotland’s Most Creative PR Agency g Technology is changing our world every minute, and this hugely impacts on how we communicate and influence. It’s important for us to understand what channels are influencing people. Social media is evolving rapidly and is very important but doesn’t happen in a vacuum of other influences. We’ve been around the block many times so understand there are a variety of channels impacting on perceptions. Also, we are constantly developing our understanding of trends that will impact on communication. For example, LinkedIn is a rapidly growing channel of influence. We have trained over 1000 people on how to use this for commercial gain. Clients include PwC, Vodafone and our industry body, Chartered Institute of Public Relations. We also offer bespoke media training using the latest technology to train people to make the most of any media opportunities. A growing area of interest is in our Parliamentary training where we share our decades of experience and insight to help our clients navigate the corridors of Government, helping them influence most effectively and indeed be prepared for events like Parliamentary or Committee enquiries. Helping clients maintain and protect their reputation in a crisis is one of the most rewarding activities we undertake, with very positive client feedback on how we support them. As well as supporting and guiding during the eye of a storm, we often work with clients to ensure they are fully prepared in the event of a crisis, including crisis test exercises which highlight any chinks in the amour of the crisis plan and process. Expert Team Our core values drive our culture from the people we hire to how we behave with colleagues and clients. We have a very flat structure, and everyone has an equal voice in steering the direction of the company. Also, we have an away day every six months where everyone has a chance to share their views on what we have been doing and what the future holds. Our business model of hiring experienced experts and only those who have been clients themselves attracts a higher quality of candidate so results in a more powerful team. Our approach of offering big company benefits, including flexible working, generous holidays like an extra day to have your birthday off and private healthcare (did I mention free Starbucks and discounted travel?) and offering a day off to volunteer for charity, yet being very agile and responsive brings the best of both worlds to our employees. We have grown well since we started 12 years ago as one person and now as a team of ten. We plan to continue to grow the business in future across PR, social media, public affairs and market research in our specialist areas of construction, life sciences and healthcare, technology, economic development and travel/transport. Moving forward, we anticipate that the communications industry will continue to evolve. But most of all, we are fascinated by how people are influenced; it is in our DNA to be focussed on this!
