Aug20129 Stunning Storymakers Secure Success Storytelling is one of the fundamental binding forces of humanity, and recently, motion graphics have taken the world by storm, offering new ways of telling the stories that people want to share. Named as Best Editing & Motion Graphics Production Studio - British Columbia in the Media Innovator Awards 2020, we take a look at Potential Pictures Inc. to see how they’ve adapted to new ways of production in unprecedented circumstances. Founded in 1999, Potential Pictures is a full video production studio, specializing in helping clients to communicate with motion pictures. The team have been able to offer a comprehensive package in this regard, with services ranging from pre-production through to production, and finally into post-production. Recently, the team have seen a demand for motion graphics, and animation, which has encouraged them to offer full-service 2D and 3D animation as well. The ability to deliver in this regard has really been positive for every project going forward. In the last year alone, this capacity has meant that the team has been able to work with high profile clients such as Blue Umbrella and Capital Events Management. Working alongside a client is always a challenge, but it is one that Potential Pictures thrives on. Taking the time to truly understand the goals of the project is crucial, and the team are well versed in meeting, and exceeding, expectations. Instead of acting as just another outside contractor, Potential Pictures becomes a critical part of the team, building a trusting, creatively open relationship. This was true of the company back in 1999, and it is certainly true of the company now. Every project has a series of questions that the team will ask themselves. “How can we tell better stories?”, “How can we reinvent ourselves?”, “How can we be different?” and “How can we raise ourselves to a new level?”. Asking these questions pushes the business forward into bold new territory and bold decision making. In the media landscape as it is, standing out from the crowd is incredibly difficult and requires this active thought process to achieve success. Despite the fast pace of the media scene as it is, it pays to take the time to consider where priorities lie. In order to remain at the forefront of trends, it’s essential to spend time in pre-production so that ideas can grow and become original. Having the idea is often the most valuable asset to a final project and creating the right environment and relationship for this to happen is key. The move towards motion graphics for many companies has been of immense benefit to Potential Pictures, especially during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. It reduced the need for filming that was technically very challenging in the circumstances. The move towards motion graphics encouraged one of the team to enrol in the School of Motion Animation Bootcamp training. This has further enhanced the range of skills that Potential Pictures can provide, with the team member eventually aiming to become an Adobe After Effects certified professional. The situation over the last few months has forced many businesses to refocus and work out what their overall aims are, and for Potential Pictures, it has seen animation, editing, motion graphics and filming become the beating heart of the firm. This is especially true at the moment as the tools to be creative have never been more readily available to learn. All projects that Potential Pictures undertakes benefit from the mindset that there is always a creative solution to be found. It’s why they have achieved such success, and been recognized as a leader in the industry. Company: Potential Pictures Inc. Name: Atlee James Web Address: www.potentialpictures.com
