Logistics Warehouse and Supply Chain Awards 2020
Over the last two years, Rack-Master have worked with MDA on a number of significant projects, which includes mezzanine floors, goods lifts, pallet racking, shelving, bespoke storage solutions and their supporting ancillary works. In September of 2019, the design process for Frontier Park began with site works commencing, once the site was available, in January 2020. During the course of this project, Master worked closely with MDA to ensure that lessons from previous sites were incorporated and that maximum flexibility around the MDA business model was employed. As a result, the project was delivered on time and to budget with partial handover milestones included. One of the many things that continues to stand Rack-Master apart from its competitors is the cradle-to-grave system it operates with during the length of any particular project. Rather than deal with multiple different representatives from the varying departments of the same company, clients will always deal with the same point of contact from start to finish. Gone are the days of having a separate email thread with sales, contracts, finances, and aftercare departments; Rack-Master ensures that all of these are fused into one department to make things far easier for all involved. Everything is done through one point of communication for maximum simplicity and effectiveness for both the client and Rack-Master. This mission feeds into the culture of the company, which is one of constant striving to be the best, whilst maintaining a competitive edge. During the current, extremely difficult, times Rack-Master have continued to operate, where the circumstances allow, with strict adherence to government guidelines and industry best practice. Having always been a forward thinking company with emphasis on time efficiency, Rack-Master were completely geared up for remote working for all their employees. This enabled them to continue to support their clients, working from home, with no loss of service. Just a handful of those technologies include the latest software, and tablets for performing many different site functions that used to be completed by hand using a more traditional pen and paper method. As the future of warehousing continues to change with the advancement of robotics and new technology, Rack-Master also continues to change and adapt to these new ways of working, and is perfectly placed in the industry to accommodate and integrate these changes. With the many different changes coming to both Rack-Master and the wider logistics, warehousing, and supply chain industries, staying ahead of emerging regulatory changes is absolutely crucial for continued excellence. Rack-Master has already taken steps to ensure it is at the forefront of the industry developments, by being a member of the UKWA (UK Warehousing Association), as well as being CHAS-accredited (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme), and employing HS Direct as an external health and safety adviser. At present, the firm is also working towards becoming a SAIC (SEMA Approved Installation Company), as the virus had to sadly postpone those plans. Being a member of these associations and organisations allows Rack-Master to access the relevant information and receive many newsletters with any regulatory changes highlighted there. Keeping on top of regulatory changes is one thing, but ensuring that staff are able to follow and adhere to those regulations is another thing entirely. That is why Rack-Master is also committed to further staff training that helps them keep on top of any new developments in the industry. That constant thirst for knowledge and understanding drives an internal culture of encouragement, enthusiasm, and camaraderie. There is an excellent rapport amongst staff, who come together in support when learning and socialising alike. Experienced staff slot right in, and each carefully-selected member is chosen for their ability to work independently without micro-management and their ability to earn a high degree of trust amongst existing workers. At present, thinking of any future has to be done so in tandem with the possibility that the coronavirus will play a vital role for a time to come. As Rack-Master continues to hope that normal service will resume soon enough, there are plans for greater expansion and bigger projects. With a focus on an increased push and reach into the marketplace, Rack- Master continues to set the benchmark for others in the industry, and mark itself out as a truly exceptional.
