Media Innovator Awards 2020

Jul20021 Best Digital Marketing Agency 2020 - Merseyside Digital marketing and social media have become an inseparable partnership over the last few years, with more and more companies realising the benefits of having a strong social media presence. However, it is about more than simply posting; there has to be engagement with the content. That is where OON Media Ltd specialises, offering itself as a digital marketing agency that also offers full video production services. We at Corporate Vision recently had the pleasure of speaking with OON Media’s CEO, Mike Sowden to learn more about the firm, and highlight it’s outstanding successes. Marketing is nothing new, and is an industry that has been around for generations. However, the recent addition of digital marketing has meant that there are more opportunities than ever before for companies and individuals alike to interact with both potential and existing clients. Capitalising on the wealth of potential in the realm of digital marketing is something that many companies can often struggle to do, confusing the idea of posting regularly with posting meaningful content that people can engage with. Enter, Mike Sowden and his team of brilliant individuals at OON Media. Founded just over four years ago by Mike and a team of first-class honours degree students from Edge Hill University, OON Media is a digital marketing agency that also offers full video production services and facilities. Having previously worked as a television and radio presenter, Mike Sowden already understands the importance of excellent marketing for companies looking to establish their place in the markets of today. Four years ago, Mike and his newly-formed team of first-class honours degree students worked together to build a television series for a local TV company. Shortly after production finished, the series went to number one in the ratings, and OON Media has since grown into a digital marketing agency, now working with social media, television production, and advertising, to name but a few services. In essence, OON Media creates value for clients, regardless of what market, sector, or industry they work in. As long as they have a need for some form of digital marketing, OON Media can provide it. During our time with Mike, he kindly elaborated on exactly how OON Media delivers on these digital marketing promises through its company values. “Our values are that we tend to listen to our customer, as opposed to telling them what they want. We try to understand what their needs are and what their values are, so that we can actually put their values into their marketing campaign. That may be through video production, which is where our strengths really lie, or it may be through increasing social media engagement. A lot of people think that social media is all about just posting things on Facebook. It isn’t, it is about the engagement that you get, it is about the response that you get, and the interaction that you get.” Understanding what the client’s core values are is crucial to what OON Media offers, as it allows Mike and the team to actually put the best possible promotion services forward, which is then enhanced with the video production that the firm offers. There is a keen level of understanding around what the client stands for, and this makes it much easier for OON Media to come up with creativity required to run a successful marketing campaign. Perhaps one of the most fitting testaments to the excellence of OON Media is that, over the course of four years, it has never lost a client. To this day, the firm is still proudly working with every client that the firm has ever tried to work with, with a few minor exceptions due to COVID-19 and the lockdown it has imposed across the United Kingdom. When approaching a new client, this desire to understand the client’s core values and objectives remains key. OON Media begins any client interaction by researching their existing social media feeds and website, to ascertain their current levels of digital marketing and engagement with clients. From there, the firm also partakes in initial meetings to try and understand the client brief, and what their expectations are. One of the things that OON Media does far better than its competitors is manage expectations very well, and always exceed them for the client. Upon beginning work on the creative elements, Mike and his team keep the client involved at every stage of the process. Nobody knows a client’s business quite like the clients themselves, and so a lot of the information which OON Media uses comes direct from them. There are clear working relationships throughout, and the client is kept advised of every major decision for the duration of the campaign. Clients can also rest easy that Mike and his team have invested heavily into camera equipment for its in-house video production work. Production cameras are EUB, Netflix and BBC-approved, and shoot everything in 4K. This level of technological understanding and innovation has set the firm apart from the competition, as well as the desire for the firm to partner with companies that can help it achieve the best results for the client. Mike elaborated further, saying, “We also partnered with some amazing companies as well. We’re very careful who we partner with. Where we’ve got weaknesses, and we recognize those weaknesses, we bring partners in. We inform our clients that we’ve brought a partner in, if there’s a particular part of something that we can’t achieve. We believe in complete honesty and transparency with our clients, and it’s worked for us so far.” OON Media may have begun with Mike investing in a group of first-class honours degree students from Edge Hill University, but his philosophy Having previously worked as a television and radio presenter, Mike Sowden already understands the importance of excellent marketing for companies looking to establish their place in the markets of today. “Our values are that we tend to listen to our customer, as opposed to telling them what they want.
