Corporate Vision When Patinum Records started out more than 15 years ago, it was during a golden period where the digital audio tools for independent artists could match the production capabilities of the big, commercial studios. This meant that artists with low budgets could enter into the studio and cut their tracks as intended, without having to compromise or break the bank. Although the music industry has shifted massively in the 17 years since, with the age of subscriptions and new technologies forever changing this space, Patinum Records has remained dedicated to its mission of creating music with meaning. Its releases across a multitude of genres cover topics such as the complexities of love, spirituality, and social injustice, with its commitment to independence and intimacy seeing deadlines and schedules thrown out of the window in favour of preserving artistic vision. Exploring further the ways in which Patinum Records has responded to industry challenges and continued to uphold this primary aim, Patrick and his small team built a two-stage system covering preproduction and post-production alike. As Patrick explained: “The first stage for pre-production was to utilise a digital setup that mimics analogue rigs, using legacy systems running perpetual software licenses in isolated systems that are frozen in time and in unupgraded states – right down to the OS systems running them.” He continued: “In this we also saw a window of opportunity to create our own process flow to maximise the utility and uniformity of sound, using the post-production stage of mastering as the groundwork for the latest, cutting-edge plug-ins – helping us in staying up to date with Waves, Nugen, Dolby with Fieler audio running on Logic, Antares, and even Neutron 5.” Outside of these processes, another way Patinum Records has ensured success is by tapping into global audiences and focusing on communities across the likes of Brazil, Portugal, and Spain. In these markets, fan engagement is nurtured via fan-powered playlists, which offer individuals the opportunity to listen to the music they like, whilst giving artists a platform. This is just the beginning for Patinum Records, which is set to spend the coming year finding new, innovative ways to connect with audiences on a deeper level, in the process focusing on building out branding as a concept. One of the ways this is being worked towards is through ‘Follow by Radio Patrick’, a forthcoming single experience blending a commercial audio release and metaverse experience with 3D augmented reality and an AI-based digital audio workflow experience. The aim is to create a place for artists to build in this brand-new era. Similarly, with more immersive technology becoming standard across our day-to-day lives, Patrick has recognised the new frontiers Started in 2008 by Patrick Ryan (AKA Radio Patrick), whose aim was to capture tomorrow’s music today, Patinum Records is an independent, Brooklyn-based music studio and label that covers genres such as R&B through to Brazilian pop music and everything in between. Radio Patrick is the studio’s primary artist and has worked on collaborations with a number of artists and talented composers over the past several years, blending sonic exploration and cultural fusion in the process. Recognised with two awards in this programme, we caught up with Patrick for more on the studio. Best Sound Production Studio 2025 – Brooklyn & Best Independent Recording Studio 2025 – USA that are out there for artists to engage with their fans. To this end, Patrick and the other members of the Patinum Records team have been working on another metaverse project, Radio Patrick Stadium, which offers cryptocurrency ‘radios’, giving fans novel ways to experience live events and listen to songs in spatial audio. Easter eggs and artist NFTs complete this offering, which helps artists to go beyond the music. Of course, it would be impossible not to mention AI, which is another factor that is set to define the future of music production. Patinum Records is passionate about using this technology in such a way that artists can record their masterpieces easier – without losing the human touch that is essential in recorded music. For instance, it is currently exploring ways to synthesise extended remix versions of songs, adding character and depth by using different vocal characteristics across the hundreds of potential takes an artist does. Ultimately, as Chappell Roan outlined earlier this year during her Grammy acceptance speech, earning a liveable wage in the music industry is more difficult now than ever, with many musicians unable to make a stable career doing what they love, due in part to large corporations having a stronghold profits and numerous other factors. Patinum Records is doing its part to change this, blending traditional recording with state-of-the-art metaverse and immersive audio to offer something spectacular and fitting of acclaim.
