Founded in 1997, Cromar Building Products is an independent one stop shop for all flat and pitched roofing products. Following their success in the Small Business Awards 2020, we got in touch with Laura Evans-Fisk to find out more. With a turnover of more than £27 million projected for 2020, Cromar Building Products is a rapidly growing manufacturer of roofing products and building sundries across UK & Ireland. Going into further detail, Laura begins by giving us a brief overview of the firm and offers more of an insight into its product range. “Cromar is largely renown for the manufacturing of roofing products. In late 2018 we launched the AlphaChem range, featuring a portfolio of building chemicals, adhesives, sealants, timber treatments, tanking membranes and DPC’s. This all-encompassing range features our key brand names including PROGRP, Cromapol, Vent3, Leadax, ProRidge, Flexiglass, AlphaChem, Hydrosil, Acrypol and many more, providing complete care from roof to foundations.” The UK roofing industry at present is a competitive one to operate in, and as Laura goes on to explain, its crucial the business is able to offer a unique selling point in order to distinguish themselves from their closest rivals. “As a company, we take pride in our independent ownership. Naturally, this enables us to give better flexibility to respond quickly to new and changing customer needs, something that the larger owned businesses are unable to do. Our products are supplied to over 1,500 roofing and builders’ merchants throughout the UK and Ireland, as well as being stocked in national stores. The range of products we have available to our customer base truly makes us a ‘one stop shop’ for roofing and building products. “With deliveries leaving numerous times a day to customers throughout the UK and Ireland, and further afield to our export customers, we pride ourselves in continually offering exceptional service, quality and value. To demonstrate that commitment, we also offer training service to contractors and have a team of trainers that travel the UK and Ireland, working closely with our customers and end users providing instruction and guidance on working with Cromar Building Products. Naturally, they ensure that roofers are fully trained in using our key products PROGRP and Flexiglass, so contractors are able to offer a warranty with installation.” The internal culture in place at Cromar is quite special, Laura explains further. “As a family- run business, Mike, Cheryl and son Daniel play Best Roofing Products Manufacturer - UK & Ireland key roles in the day to day running of the firm. When recruiting new team members, we very much look for like-minded people who share the same core values.” Finally, Laura commented on the future of Cromar, sharing more insight into some of the firm’s plans moving forward. “Following the acquisition of Acrypol Products Ltd in October 2019, we have great plans to develop the brand and range further. Founded in 1986 with a mission to provide quality roof repair and waterproofing products for the trade, beginning with just the one product, Acrypol+. As its flagship product, it is not only recognised as the quality benchmark, but also sold into more than 2,000 stockists throughout the UK. The portfolio of products then expanded over the years to include complimentary products such as Quartz Dek and Metal-Kote in order to fulfil growing customer demands. Acrypol is an excellent addition to the Cromar range, with 30 years of recognised excellence in waterproofing alongside industry leading products. “Last year, we were very proud to have won H&B Buying Groups Supplier of the Year Award 2019.
