Small Business Awards 2025

Corporate Vision Best Fashion Education & Awareness Campaign 2025 – Australia Dazzle Image Consulting was created by Sue Maree, an award-winning educator, consultant, speaker, and all-round fashion sustainability expert. A former Fashion Designer, turning her interest instead to a Personal Stylist and Image Consultant leveraging her skills to provide services relating to these areas to a diverse clientele from across Australia. However, more recently, her work has taken the form of a focus on the fashion industry as a circular economy advocate. On the back of her recognition in this programme, we caught up with Sue for more on her work in fashion education and transforming wardrobes. Initially founded as a way for Sue to share her expertise as a Fashion Stylist with the skills of a Fashion Designer, Dazzle Image Consulting was an outlet for her passion for creative projects that she fostered from a young age, and which have continued to guide her career from the beginning through to today. Yet, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in early 2020, Sue pivoted slightly and began some pioneering work educating people on sustainability in fashion and the tremendous impact that this industry has on the environment. Serving as a member of the Board for the Australian Chapter of Association of Image Consulting International, Sue received a Global Philanthropy Award for her work in fashion education, quickly leading to a two-year stint as a member of the Global Sustainability Committee. This kind of work has remained Sue’s focus in the years since the pandemic waned, and she is proud to today collaborate with the likes of the local government and fashion festivals to create programmes and experiences around the topic. Examples include raising awareness through workshops, panel talks, exhibitions, and attending global conferences, all of which Sue has been widening the scope of her work and also providing her with new perspectives on the evolving channels leading the industry to become a global circular economy. Following on from this, Sue explained: “I am now the Global Chair of the AICI Global Sustainability Committee, where I lead a team to create positive awareness programmes worldwide”, reflecting her impact in this space. Aided by changing industry legislation spurred on by the European Union, Sue’s goal is to collaborate and create motivational solutions for consumers as they take their wardrobes through the shifts happening in the world of fashion. Her value statement – providing a rewarding, meaningful experience, in a supportive environment, by taking small steps that lead to a lasting impact that is both inclusive and accessible – is a further reflection of this, as is her mission of creating fashion education programmes that inspire change. “Clothing is emotional and part of our identity, so my work is always delivered with diplomacy and empathy.” As touched on a couple of times already, collaboration is an inherent part of the fashion education delivered by this fashion circular economy consultant, especially in the cases of the local government and fashion festival clients mentioned above. This is because these entities present their ideas, goals, and themes, before Sue creates a presentation with a choice of options on how she could deliver these in an event linked to their aims. Once the decision is made, Sue not only runs the event but also plans every element of it. Through these initiatives, Sue and her clients are playing their part reinventing the fashion industry across Australia and beyond. She explained this further: “Governments are forcing changes to the way we make, sell, and recycle our clothing. I am educating about the new ways we will buy, use, and discard clothing.” Sue continued: “My work is helping the consumer understand why the changes are taking place and offering steps to transform their wardrobes to adhere to the principals of a fashion circular economy.” Since Sue is a solopreneur, the collaborations she nurtures with like-minded people and organisations are crucial to her success, and this is why meeting people aligned with her vision is something she plans to continue to do as move into 2026 and beyond. Beyond this, Sue shared: “I have just written a book about my work, in which I have identified the ten key changes in the fashion industry, why they have happened, and why it matters, as well as how to transform our wardrobes to transition to a circular economy model.” Lastly, her role as Global Chair of AICI will take her to some international conferences to share knowledge to inspire change. Distinguished through educational services including wardrobe organisation solutions, helping transition fashion to a circular economy, and utilising her fashion industry knowledge to reduce confusion and overwhelm for consumers in these changing times, Sue’s ongoing commitment to fashion education makes her more than fitting of this award.
