As part of our overviewof a selection of this year’s TelecomAwardwinners, we profile the company and share a unique insight into the services it has to offer. Established in 2007, with CEO Wallace Davis at the helm, DHI Telecom has been serving US Armed Forces, NATO Coalition Forces, and government contractors for more than a decade. More than ten years after its inception in 2017, DHI launched Sapphire, a pocket-sized portable international hotspot for the military and contractors overseas. The launch was a success, and in just over a year, Sapphire devices have been sold to over 55,000 service men and women in 75 countries. In October 2018, DHI acquired London-based TEP Wireless, instantly expanding the market with TEP’s UK, and US travel customers. Sapphire is a powerful, pocket-size device with Internet connectivity in more than 130 countries. It links to the strongest cell signal and downloads the regional SIM cards creating a Wi-Fi hotspot for smartphones, laptops, and tablets – up to five devices. SIM cards are obsolete with CloudSIM technology. Users will never again have to buy and insert SIM cards or purchase data plans in each country they visit. No more searching for telecom stores and waiting in line to deal with obscure carriers. Sapphire models come with 500 MB to 1GB of international data enabling users to get started right out of the box. Users can save hundreds of dollars over using their phone as a hotspot, which compiles expensive roaming rates. Sapphire allows users to add and manage their data using an iOS or Android app. UK-based Tep Wireless is a twin to Sapphire; both are products of DHI Telecom. Online sales are brisk at SapphireGo.com a nd TepWireless.com . Moving forward, DHI Telecom continues to improve its products. Sapphire 2, the next generation hotspot comes with 1GB of data and a tactical matte black finish, rolled out in May to DHI Mobile Stores, and Army and Air Force Exchange Stores in the US and Europe. Tep Wireless and Sapphire devices are also sold at B8ta high-tech retail stores in New York, California, and Texas. This week, Davis announced the acquisition of French-based startup Travel WiFi. The company provides travelers to France, Europe and beyond with rentals of high-quality pocket-sized WiFi with free pickup at Paris area airports and retail locations. Travel WiFi’s convenient rental design has attracted over 200,000 customers.
