Basically, this is an electric motor, that can be placed in the wheel of a vehicle enabling zero-emission transportation. The wheel becomes the motor of the vehicle. It has been developed as a platform technology and this means that this technology is scalable. Our primary focus is the application of these products in commercial vehicles, such as city buses and urban distribution trucks. “These vehicles are in operation in densely populated areas, where people suffer the most from current vehicle emissions. This means that immediate action is required and we have the technology to make it happen. Due to the fact that the motor is located in the wheel, the vehicle manufacturer has more design freedom. The space that normally is occupied by a combination of the motor, transmission and driveshaft, can now be used for other components, such as batteries and chargers.
