Recently, Hiten Shah found success in CV’s 2019 Corporate Excellence Awards where he was recognized as theMost Influential CEO of the Year 2019 – Supply ChainManagement. Whenwe caught up withHiten recently, he kindly provided us with a detailed glimpse into the innerworkings of the exceptional services the firm consistently delivers to their clients. Established in 2007 by Hiten Shah, MES helps to develop custom engineering solutions by leveraging global manufacturing resources and implementing comprehensive supply chain solutions. Sourcing manufactured components from India, China, Australia, Taiwan, Vietnam and Malaysia, MES also maintains warehouse facilities in Ohio, California, Texas and Mexico. In addition to this, the firm also helps many North American OEMs by managing the entire outsourced manufacturing process. Hiten begins by informing us of the clients the firm serves, and how the team at MES approaches them. “Here at MES, we approach our clients in a selection of ways. We have a very strong marketing presence such as social media, blog, studies that we published online, and so on. In addition to this, we participate in a lot of trade shows and we also have our sales account manager call higher executives to reach out to them and ask if they would like to work with us on projects.” Leading the firm to deliver these remarkable heights is Owner and President of MES, Hiten Shah who believes that human beings have unlimited potential. Having began his career as a plastics engineer, Hiten had limited knowledge about overseeing a global supply chain. However, Hiten was fortunate enough to have experience as a key manager, process engineer, engineering manager then director of engineering, vice president of sales, and also director of joint venture sales, he was ready for the challenge. Having built MES on a culture of trust and honesty, we ask Hiten to describe in detail his leadership style and his key responsibilities as the CEO. “My key responsibility is to ensure that I support the staff for all current and future deals. Approximately a third of my time is spent on hiring. I like to immerse myself in hiring all of the management team, as well as almost all our Ohio staff. The other time is spent between developing sales strategies for specific customers with our sales team.” Supporting Hiten in his mission to provide an impeccable service to clients, is the talented, hard- working and committed team which forms the backbone of MES. When discussing the internal culture, Hiten is keen to highlight the significant role the team play in the overall success of the firm. “At MES, we have three key goals. The first is to create win-win solutions for our customers, the second is to create challenging and exciting work environment for our associates, and the last one is developing quality suppliers across the globe. Our staff plays an incredible role in ensuring that our customers are satisfied, that our key metrics (on time deliver, customer ratings) are optimised and at industry level. “Our team are very focused on our customers, ensuring that they are prompt and responsive to their needs. Overall, our standards are dependent on the quality and focus our team has.” Bringing the interview to a close, Hiten signs off by revealing the exciting plans which lie in the pipeline for the team at MES, touching on how the firm hope to further expand the business into new markets and countries. “For the past three years, we have been doing a small amount of business in Vietnam. Following our customer’s requests, we decided to invest more in Vietnam, and so started our own office in March. Moving forward, we will begin hiring new team members for the firm. “Looking ahead, our future is focused on geographical proximity to our customers and developing quality supplies across the globe – finding the best supplies in all these new countries.
