Tetiana Mykhailyk, Digital Marketer, tells us more following the firm’s success. Founded in 2008, Symphony Solutions is a leading Cloud and Agile Transformation company, based in Amsterdam and operating across six international offices to serve more than 35 international clients to date. A multifaceted company with the expertise required to work with a myriad of industries on an extensive portfolio of cases, Symphony’s specialist emphasis is on its cloud transformation services. In order to manage each client’s varied projects to the highest standard, Symphony puts together dedicated teams, employing the professionals with the best skills and experience for each case. “As practice shows, our clients oftentimes discover more value in what we can offer than what they initially requested,” says Tetiana Mykhailyk, Digital Marketer of Symphony. “In the case with HPE GreenLake,” she elaborates, “we started with maintenance of the exciting solution and a small team of just three engineers. The team’s excellent performance and contribution led the client to the realization that they want a complete overhaul of the architecture and to work exclusively with our team and with time we expanded to over 30 cloud experts operating in self-managed Scrum teams. “You could say, we take up a personal approach and strive for excellence. Sure, we can deliver a great solution but while we’re already at it, why not make it ‘the best’?” Similarly, in a project carried out with Vivino, an online wine retail platform, Symphony was able to construct a team that created a powerful cloud infrastructure to accommodate a heavy load application that is continuously growing and expanding. With Symphony’s support, Vivino went from a quirky idea to a platform with over 50 million users and the world’s largest online wine marketplace. “We share our clients’ vision to create something revolutionary, to change the way we experience life itself,” Tetiana explains. As such, Symphony considers people to be the very heart of the business, all driven by a company philosophy built on a foundation of trust and comprising a set of core values that consist of integrity, initiative, innovation, inspirational, and intimacy. These govern each team member – or ‘Symphonian’ – in both their professional and personal lives and ambitions. “Each Symphonian is a strong individual with unique insights, sense of personal responsibility, passion and creativity,” states Tetiana. “When Symphonians come together, they build even stronger teams and can create something exceptional.” When growing this team, recruitment follows a process of ‘colleagues choosing colleagues’. This is a practice that ensures an outcome everyone in the team is satisfied with and that sees Symphonians successfully collaborating and supporting one another. “This constitutes our Agile philosophy that we apply in everyday work. We nurture the Agile “growth mindset” in every one of our Symphonians and teach teams to ‘be agile’,” Tetiana explains. The agile nature of Symphony allowed the company to quickly adapt and switch to remote mode seemingly overnight when the Covid-19 pandemic struck. “One of the challenges was when, due to the lockdown restrictions, one of our iGaming clients was basically left stranded because their main focus were outdoor events which had to be cancelled,” recounts Tetiana. “Sadly, such situations are bound to happen, more so while the entire global community goes haywire. You can’t always plan around it or know the future outcomes. You lose some, you win some. COVID-19 is something that we couldn’t have predicted and, all things considered, we are very lucky to be able to count our losses, shake off, and continue the ‘grind’.” Symphony introduced Symphony Anywhere, a virtual office which enabled recruitment of new Symphonians from across the world and the Workation benefit, which presented a way for Symphonians to combine travel with work. For many, these changes may have taken a toll on business, but not for Symphony. “We are looking at a surge in productivity that even the clients have commented on. We are as flexible as ever and ready to take on new challenges.” The operational structure of Symphony will continue to become more virtual in order to offer people greater freedom to enjoy their preferred lifestyle.
