Education and Training Awards 2020

Jun20112 Children’s First Aid Training Provider of the Year 2020-UK Since their inception, Little Life Savers has been on a mission to create a nation of Little Life Savers, ensuring that everybody has access to life saving skills. We profiled the organisation to discover how they earned themselves the title of Children’s First Aid Training Provider of the Year 2020 – UK. Little Life Savers is a charitable organisation which teaches Basic Life Support skills, including management of choking children/child cardiopulmonary resuscitation, adult CPR and the recovery position to children aged 9 and above. In 2016, Little Life savers became a registered charity, only operating in West Sussex. Less than a year later, the charity was up and running all over the UK. Born from a desire to teach such vital skills to a wider audience, especially school children, the first request for Little Life Savers came from a headteacher who had been informed about the CPR course by one of their students. Today, the charity provides their award-winning training at schools, clubs and groups completely free of charge. To book them, all you would need to do is either email one of the local co-ordinators or fill out the online contact form. Each session has medically trained instructors and the best quality mannikins and tools to learn and nurture your lifesaving skills. Little Life Savers use volunteer medical professionals to help teach their courses. These generous individuals are students, doctors or nurses who give up their free time to offer fun courses, which ensure that the children they come into contact with are adequately trained. As mentioned earlier, the charity’s mission is simple; to create a nation of Little Life Savers and ensure everyone has access to these skills. Little Life Savers works with a dedicated training consultant who ensures that they are always up to date with the latest skills and standards in the industry. Currently, Little Life Savers is looking at ways to meet the new school curriculum in September and are currently filming their training. This will enable them to provide more people with access to their training. They are also in the process of developing an app, so that children can get support after the course has finished and they can get a refresher on what they have learned. As Little Life Savers continues to grow, with new groups being established all the time, their nation of Little Life Savers continues to expand, the chances of bystander CPR increases. To date, Little Life Saves have taught more than a phenomenal 8,000 children basic lifesaving skills in schools, clubs and societies free of charge, and are showing no signs of stopping any time soon.
