Unique Venues Birmingham (UVB) has been named theMost Outstanding Events & Conferencing Venues of the Year for the UK in 2020, for its work exploiting the facilities of the BirminghamRepertory Theatre and the Library of Birmingham. Founded as a commercial venture, UVB is a partnership between Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the Library of Birmingham that is aimed at exploiting the fantastic facilities for conferencing and hospitality that are afforded by the collaborative buildings. In the heart of the city, on Centenary Square, the Birmingham Repertory Theatre is not only one of Britain’s oldest building- based theatre companies, but also one of the country’s most consistently innovative. The Library of Birmingham, opened in September 2013, has also been recognised as one of the premier visitor attractions in the United Kingdom. Both boast outstanding and modern facilities, which UVB offer to clients in search of the perfect venue for any event. Since the company’s founding in October 2017, UVB has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre Ltd, which is itself jointly governed by the theatre alongside Birmingham City Council. Drawing together the exceptional opportunities that both buildings offer, UVB consolidates the existing operations in each venue to provide one unique venue offering for both corporate and private clients. In the two-and- a-half years since the firm’s founding, it has hosted almost two thousand events that have fulfilled a range of purposes. Using the wealth of facilities at the library, and the auditoria available at the theatre, UVB can accommodate up to eight hundred people for a variety of events. Whether clients require a space for conferences, corporate training, teambuilding, or networking events, there is no shortage of well-equipped spaces that can be carefully tailored to suit any company. As well as the large spaces for the more active events, there are private dining spaces that can seat up to 500 dinner guests for receptions, presentations, awards dinners, and celebrations of all kinds. Twelve meeting rooms and almost 400 square metres of floorspace in the mezzanine allows event organisers to host pop up exhibition or networking spaces that fully complement the main event being run by UVB. Whatever the season, there is a perfect space for any event. In the summer, the sophisticated and elegant terrace accessible from the library is the perfect celebratory space for drink receptions, summer barbecues, or concerts, whilst the auditoria at the theatre can shelter guests from the harsh cold of winter. The team at UVB work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that every aspect of an event runs completely smoothly. UVB won the award in 2018 and are extremely pleased to have retained the award with so many great venues in Birmingham competing for the prestigious title.
