REF FM Foundation helps establish community radio stations in refugee camps, run for and by refugees and host communities. When people are forced to flee their homes, access to reliable information is often one of the first things lost. In new and often harsh environments, trustworthy communication becomes essential. Our social enterprise model empowers local teams to become financially independent within a year by selling airtime to aid agencies and (small) businesses, creating a sustainable alternative to traditional aid. Each station provides credible, relevant, and positive programming that informs, inspires, and connects communities. REF FM also gives NGOs a powerful platform to reach and engage refugees directly.
