Profitect is the leading provider of prescriptive analytics for the retail and CPG industries. Recently, the firm found success in CV’s 2019 Corporate Excellence Awards for which they were selected as 2019’s Most Reputable Prescriptive Analytics Software – USA. On the back of this win, we profile the company and catch up with CEO Guy Yehiav who provides us with a glimpse into the inner workings of the award-winning company.

Established in 2012 and recently acquired by Zebra Technologies, Profitect offers a prescriptive analytics solution for retail and CPG organisations. The solution automatically analyzes data to identify opportunities for improvement in the business. It then provides a prescriptive action that is sent directly to the appropriate stakeholder, informing them how to act on the opportunity to increase margins and profits. To add accountability to this workflow, each prescriptive action is tracked to ensure execution. Guy begins by going into further detail about the solutions that Profitect provides to its clients, and how the team ensures that they are ready to provide support and assistance along the way.

“Traditionally when trying to get a better understanding of what is happening within their business, retail and CPG companies have relied mostly on report-based data analytics. Unfortunately, this approach often leads to the creation of numerous reports that are complicated, inaccurate, irrelevant, and prone to bias by whoever reads them. As retailers and CPG organizations look for alternatives, increasingly many are turning to Profitect’s prescriptive analytics solution. Profitect empowers employees to make better-informed decisions by prescribing them the actions they should take, rather than sending them a report to analyze. This has been proven to quickly and consistently improve sales and margins. while also reducing labor costs.

“Profitect’s prescriptive analytics solution is designed to serve every department across the retail value chain, including supply chain, store operations, loss prevention, marketing, merchandising, finance, planning and allocation, and IT. It is simple and intuitive to use, ensuring that any employee – part-time or full-time, Profitect : Empowering Employees and Growing Revenue with Prescriptive Analytics skilled or unskilled, executive or “at the edge” – can leverage Profitect’s solution to replicate positive behaviors and eliminate negative behaviors affecting revenue.”Enabling the company to provide these award-winning services is the dedicated, experienced and hard-working team which forms the backbone of Profitect. When discussing the internal culture, Guy is keen to highlight the significant role the team plays in the overall success of the company.

“Profitect has a “customer-first” culture. This means that every employee, regardless of role or title, is ready to step in and help at any time. Everyone within the company plays a role in building strong, productive partnerships with our customers.”
Speaking of the clients, many of the businesses that Profitect works alongside are some of the most recognisable brands and
organisations in the world, as Guy explains. “Profitect’s clients are some of the most innovative brands within both retail and CPG. Profitect serves numerous verticals within the retail and CPG industries, including apparel, footwear, grocery, hardlines, beauty, and pharmacy.”

Profitect’s Customer Success team holds frequent meetings and check-ins with customers to ensure they are consistently realizing value and their needs and objectives are being met. Additionally, they hold quarterly calls and host a yearly user conference, Profitect Prescriptive Analytics Collaborative Training (PACT), to ensure communication and collaboration across its customer community. Bringing the interview to a close, Guy signs off by revealing the exciting plans which lie in the pipeline for the company, especially given the recent acquisition news and organisations in the world, as Guy explains.
