FleetZero Delivers “Zero Emissions, Zero Headaches.”

The transportation sector is undergoing a renewable revolution, driven by the increasing adoption of electric vehicles and renewable energy sources. In such a rapidly evolving landscape, fleet owners are now seeking turnkey solution providers to guide their transition with consulting, equipment, and vehicle support. FleetZero is a Toronto-based energy transition consultancy for the transport sector that has positioned itself as an invaluable partner in this field. We spoke with Co-Founders Naeem Farooqi and Sherena Hussain to learn more, as FleetZero is named in the Canadian Business Awards 2026.

“Some call us the fleet whisperer. Others call us the turnkey solution. At FleetZero, we deliver solutions.”

FleetZero was launched in 2023, when Co-Founders Naeem Farooqi and Sherena Hussain set out to address the top roadblocks facing fleet-minded owners as they transition to low carbon transportation. After advising on tens of thousands of fleet vehicles from all corners of the world, it became clear to the pair that the road to lowering emissions and improving fuel economy is currently fragmented, complicated, and full of unnecessary obstacles.

When FleetZero was formed, it was intentionally designed to simplify the energy transition for fleets, governments, utilities, and capital providers in such a way that does not compromise on fleet priorities. Its services span from advising on how to reduce transportation emissions and fuel usage to supporting the implementation of new propulsion and fleet innovations. In this vein, the company serves as a liaison to address infrastructure needs, providing a connection to capital when needed and delivering maintenance process development, training and insulated tools, as well as safety services to ensure vehicles remain on the road safely and sustainably.

Within its first year, FleetZero established footprints in Toronto, New York, and London and signed more than ten strategic partnerships in a network spanning four continents. Since then, the company has become an approved supplier for Fleet Electrification by the Sourcewell Procurement Group and the Canoe Procurement Group of Canada, as well as  certified as a Diverse Supplier by the Canada Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council. In 2025, FleetZero’s team saw the opening of its own headquarters on the downtown Toronto waterfront and was an official event partner for Toronto’s inaugural Climate Week.

Today, FleetZero works with many fleets across Canada and the globe, ranging from public to private, large and small. Its clients include Canada’s largest public transit agencies, public works departments, transportation companies, utilities, and refuse trucking fleets. These clients appreciate FleetZero’s C-suite to boots-on-the-ground (“Pit-Crew”) approach, combined with decades of fleet experience, leading analytical capabilities, and new, proprietary technologies designed to advance fleet asset management, maintenance, operations, and financial stability.

What’s more, the company is also low and zero-emission agnostic. It provides unrivalled insights and support for battery electric, hybrid-electric, compressed natural gas, renewable natural gas, renewable diesel, dual fuel, and hydrogen fuel cell propulsion forms. To date, FleetZero’s core team has completed more than 100 feasibility studies for hydrogen and battery electric fleet decarbonisation, including for transit and public works fleets seeking support on the accelerated adoption and deployment of EVs and EV charging infrastructure across the globe in alignment with their asset management plans.

“We believe that it is our collective responsibility to protect our planet and reduce our carbon footprint,” Sherena shared. “Our turnkey solutions not only remove the emission transition headache but also help fleets achieve their sustainability goals by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving fuel efficiency, and promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for all. With our expertise and commitment to sustainability, we can help light to heavy-duty fleets navigate their route to zero emissions and contribute to a more sustainable future for generations to come.”

As sustainability objectives, policy support, and technologies evolve, the team works with fleets to understand the landscape and introduce lasting solutions. It focuses on elevating fleet priorities among senior leaders without compromising on original commitments, whether financial or environmental, and customises every solution for each fleet. The core value of listening from shop-floor to the top-floor is key to this process, enabling the team to understand what works, what does not, and identify potential pain points for clients and their stakeholders.

For FleetZero, this often means listening for what is not said but has the potential to later become a challenge. “For example,” said Naeem, “several clients have purchased battery-electric buses and are now beginning to receive vehicles into their fleet. At FleetZero, we know that maintenance processes will need to be modified and that staff must be given the appropriate insulated tooling and protective equipment in order to be kept safe while working around high voltage systems. As a trusted advisor, we work with clients to identify these pending needs and craft solutions that work with them.”

In fact, the company develops and sells insulated tools, personal protective equipment, and safety equipment designed to keep employees safe when working around battery electric and hybrid electric vehicles. The team is continuously striving to develop new tools, services, and technology solutions in this field, driven by an unwavering pit-crew mentality and FleetZero’s Fleet-First, Solution-Driven, Customer-Focused, Innovation-Minded, and Sustainability-Grounded core values. It is for this dedication and focus that FleetZero has been awarded the CleanTech Innovation Award 2026.

As telematics are rolled out in EV technology, new sensors, AI-platforms and other advanced technology is being deployed in these vehicles to improve their operation and maintenance. In particular, FleetZero has noted a strong push to redesign traditional time-based maintenance intervals and activity by implementing a reliability- and monitoring-based approach. The company intends to lead the charge in such developments.

To remain at the forefront of industry advancement, FleetZero ensures that investment in training remains a top-tier priority. This is especially true as the training and specialist complex diagnostic of EV and Hydrogen fleets gives rise to a new technician class, standing at the crossroads of technology and mechanical repair. FleetZero’s trademarked culture and training programme, Mechanic of the Future™, allows the company to identify shop culture while also nurturing eager technicians into the shop leaders of tomorrow.

FleetZero’s diverse team hails from an array of disciplines, spanning engineering, planning, mechanical, accounting, finance, data analytics, technology, and legal. Each member of the team works together in close collaboration to develop solutions to complex problems, especially as new vehicle technologies are deployed across the industry. “We screen for skills and hire for passion, curiosity, and problem-solving capabilities,” Naeem added. “We enjoy recruiting from local and global talent depending on the job function. We also pose fleet-themed questions to future staff, such as ‘What’s your favourite car brand?’ Fleet is in our recruitment DNA.”

As a champion of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, giving back to the local community is as important as technical excellence at FleetZero. The company prides itself on contributing to associations and communities it is a part of, with one shining example being its partnership with Partners in Project Green in Toronto, working together to advance environmental mandates around tree planting and inclusive skills development. In addition to this, the team provide education and training on lessons learned surrounding clean fuel adoption and implementation across Ontario.

The company will continue its educational endeavours on a wider scale, as Naeem announced FleetZero’s latest project: “Behind the Fleet is our new podcast series that takes our lessons learned and shares them with our clients and broader community. Rooted as a diverse business based in Toronto, we continue to educate and elevate fleets around us that are working to achieve the benefits of decarbonisation. The purpose of this series is to highlight that the journey to zero emissions is not a one-size-fits-all solution but rather one tailored to their maintenance, duty cycle, and supply chain requirements.”

Looking further to the future, FleetZero is focused on rolling out GarageZero™ throughout 2026. Working in partnership with Cementex, North America’s market only design-driven manufacturer of double-insulated hand tools, the team will offer double-insulated 1000V safety tools and personal protective equipment to medium and heavy-duty fleets as they transition to zero emission vehicles. This includes safety tool kits, interchangeable tools, wrenches, pliers and crimpers, screwdrivers and nutdrivers, and personal protective equipment, accessories, and insulated rubber goods.

From its unrivalled turnkey solutions to its steadfast commitment to supporting clients in their transition to low carbon transportation, FleetZero has emerged as a leader in the field of clean transportation. The company has been instrumental in helping countless fleets on their journey to zero emissions, and we at Corporate Vision magazine are delighted to recognise FleetZero as the Best Transport Sector Energy Transition Consultancy 2026.
